Exercise Week!

Saturday, September 24, 2011

What an end of the week exercise cycle. My good friend, Beverly called to see if I would go with her and Tim, to Ladiga trail (rails to trail) in Piedmont, Al. on Thursday. They came and picked up my mountain bike and self and we were off for a lovely scenic drive to the trail. One word: Gorgeous. We biked for about 30 miles round trip...made it past the Georgia line onto the Silver Comet Trail. A little rain on the way back but it did not dampen our spirits. We had a late lunch at a little coffee shop in Piedmont and it was GREAT! Tim asked about my weight program...(I've gained some and need to lose. I'll post more on what I've concluded in regards to this, but would say, it really involves, my thinking among other things. Injuries play a part in setback as well as how you approach how to lose weight once you've regained some back. I am a self-confessed Carb-O-Holic! I just love a good cracker immersed in a slathering of butter or a good cheddar atop the cracker(s). However, when the 'perfect storm' of thought, approach, calorie counting not only on Spark people, but on my little index cards..just several things at the same time..I begin to refocus on losing the weight, AGAIN! I did not gain all my pounds back, but I'm wearing size 14 and not 10-12 capri's, so I did gain. My stomach is a current Muffin Top! Over the past 3 days, something just clicked again and I'm down for the count (calorie count) and up for the burn... Call it P.O.P. account (I'm putting off pounds by investing in burning calories. Already, since just Thursday, I feel lighter. I'm not saying the scale has said much back to me (do they make ones that talk like the GPS fellow?), but the clothes are definitely looser. So I plan to come often to Spark People and post a note or two. I'm back a month earlier mountain biking, which is my absolute delight in cycling... Ok, Game on to get at least 30-40 more pounds off reasonably!

Thank-you Don and Slimmer Jesse for your comments. The Chief Ladiga/ Silver Comet trail is wonderful. It was featured as one of the longest connecting trails in the country recently by Rails-to-Trails magazine. I hope to do it soon on the road bike. Near the end of October it will be drop-dead gorgeous!
Past two days, we've been renovating (cleaning, painting). The trouble with staying in the same house for 30 + years is accumulation. Just finished a closet that was last painted 31 years ago!!! So, I'm watching calories, sipping on green tea as it is raining outside. I'll do a trail hike around our property, shortly! emoticon

Bike riding is so much fun, and this trail sounds beautiful. Best wishes for continued success.

LOVE the Silver Comet trail...! I had the pleasure while staying with relatives who live less than a couple miles from the trail on the other end from you in Marietta.

Keep 'er Sparkin'!
