After I had to miss 2 registered 5K walks due to hospitalizations [suspected Multiple Sclerosis*] a month apart, I had developed a concern that I should not sign-up for anymore events. Four months have now passed and I'm tolerating working full-time without any problems beyond a cataract in my left eye.
With encouragement & companionship from some Sparkers and their families, I completed my first scheduled 5K today! It sure feels great to not only conquer a fear, but to partake in fun exercise at the same time.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was giving away T-shirts to anyone who had collected/donated $100 or more. TOPS Groceries offered an even better looking JDRF T-shirt for donations of $10 or more. I knew I no longer needed the 3X and started to select a 2X. My SparkFriends gave me disapproving looks and insisted the XL would be perfect. Wow, they were correct.
Of course I partoke of the freebies: a plastic water bottle, a 2011 ed. of The Calorie King Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter, a diabetic meal planner guide and a Freestyle glucose monitoring system (complete with a silicone protective cover in my selection of Purple).
For refreshments I had a bottled water, hotdog, and small bag of popcorn. I passed on the potato chips and packaged cheese crackers w/ peanut butter.
For a $1 dollar donation I received 2 tickets towards a raffle of a bag of groceries from TOPS. I was one of 25 winners! The reusable non-plastic bag contained household items like papertowels & foil. Some of the non-perishable items included microwave popcorn and creamy peanut butter. I was also able to add and an apple & 8 oz. container of fat-free light Raspberry yogurt to the 10 things altoghter.
All this was nice, but nothing compares to the day [November 1, 1991] I accepted the most precious gift ever...a promise of Eternal Life in Heaven through the Salvation of Jesus Christ! I turned away from my sinful life in repentance because of the innocent blood that was shed for all of us.
Please Sparkmail me if I can assist you in receiving the Gift of Salvation for yourself.
*I was diagnosed with MS on 4/16/11 and told by MS specialists on 6/29/11 that I did not have MS.
