It happened two weeks ago...our community has had significant damage done by tropical storm Lee. I wasn't able to log my food intake or calories burned; I'm on an animal disaster response team and we were activated when then rain started coming. I know I didn't eat great....a meal here and there..snacks when I could grab something...but I drank a LOT of water. I also got plenty of exercise...setting up the temporary shelter, unloading animals from our transport vehicles, jumping in and out of our trailer with supplies, crates, and other things. So I hopped on the scale today...I'm the same as I was before the flood. I guess that is good...I didn't gain.
Turns out 263 animals passed through our "system." Many have returned home already...some were moved to local kennels, boarding facilities or shelters. We are just a team of 4 people; we just started seriously a year ago April; this was our first response! Of course we didn't do it alone...we got help from other agencies. It was a team effort! The community has also been very supportive. Once word got out of our needs for some supplies, they started showing up immediately.
I helped with a water rescue team..here are a few photos:
