Eww.. Icky toe!

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Yesterday I went out to run and was hesitant and took it slow because my ankle was hurting since the Half. I took breaks when my ankle seemed to hurt, but otherwise all seemed good. The running felt really awesome.. like I was reliving the half and really enjoying not getting tired and my renewed spirit was high. When got home I stuck my foot in the cold pool and felt fine. You can see it here:

Later that night my toe starting hurting, which started being a little sore about a week ago, but seemed ok. When I took my sock off there was an ugly purple toenail, plus a blister on the toe next to it. Like a kid who doesn’t cry till they see blood, I think it hurts more now that I’ve seen it. So I am taking a week off, or at least however long it takes for it to get better. Instead of sitting around though…. I am planning to start my P90X again and work my upper body which I have let weaken a lot over the summer. I might not get far into the full 90 days, but will do what I can.

To keep me motivated to keep running, I am already signed up for a 15K in November, Stockade-athon (in Schenectady) and really want to do the Sacandaga Lake 10K in late October. Also, I have offered my running club to be a co-director of a race in January, the Winter Wimp where people have the option of doing 2.2 miles or keep going and do 4.4 miles – no matter how cold the weather! It will be interesting to see how much work and planning goes into the creation of a race!

Aww Ouch! I've done that, it seems fine until you see it and then bam! it starts to throb! Take care of your feet, ALWAYS (my grandmother used to say that to me, whenever she saw me in heels) And have fun organizing your race!

Glad that you are taking care of your feet! Runners seem to have all kinds of things going on with there feet, I wonder why? LOL

You have yourself a grand following and I'm so happy to be part of that fan club. Wishing you all the best in your races and in getting the winter run set up !
