My 5% Fall Challenge Plan

Thursday, September 22, 2011

I'm feeling more confident about this challenge. I've done one, and so I know what to expect. I've mentally prepared myself for what lies ahead. I know that losing the 5% of my body weight is the ultimate goal, but it isn't the only one. And realistically, I know that the next 10 pounds will come off slowly, and only if I really stick to my plan. That has been a struggle, for sure. I can get the fitness minutes in. I crave those fitness minutes! But sticking to my calorie range can be a big challenge.

So, my focus is not going to be on the weight loss. I would LOVE to lose the 5%, but I won't consider myself a failure if I don't. Here are my goals:

1. To get as many fitness minutes as I can. I'm not working, and I have the time. I plan to do 120 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. On Wednesday, I will do full body strenth training, and then use my treadmill to get the rest of the 120 minutes. If I don't have time on Saturday, I'll shoot for Sunday. I need one day of rest, and the ST days really will be an active recovery. I am so good at Sparking, and it consumes too much of my time. SO, I will get the exercise in before I even turn on the computer. (That started today.)

2. To stay in my calorie range. This will be easier because I have tweaked my exercise routine to something that I truly enjoy, and not something I dread. As a result, I burn more calories, and I can eat more! I still will aim for 1 pound loss per week, and hope it happens!

3. If I eat it, I log it. Oh, man, if I suddenly disappear, you know I have gone haywire. I can scarf down chips, cookies, whatever, in no time flat. And then I am like a little kid hiding with a dirty diaper. I know I messed up, and I just don't log it. Just because it isn't on SP doesn't mean it didn't happen! So, I urge you to check my "Shared Food and Fitness Trackers." Spark Stalk me! Hold me accountable!

So, there's my plan! I had fun watching our fitness minutes and Living the Good Life points add up on the last challenge. I really did feel like I was letting my team down when I didn't put in my time. I think this challenge will be awesome!

Go Daisies!

Oh I think I will just "control c" your plan to my page! haha! I plan on going after the fitness minutes. I need to work them in around work, but I have my treadmill and stationary bike and new headlamp so NO EXCUSES! I will track all calories but just have to STAY away from the "evil" snacks. Can't have them in the house. Want to focus on the weight also. Found that I gained nearly 15 lbs. UGH!!! so depressing. So this is perfect timing. Then through all of this I somehow need to work on my "malfunctioning" eating trigger! Thanks! Manana!

I'll be on your tracker like white on rice. We can't have you hiding with a stinky diaper. Besides, you're not old enough to need diapers. Yet.

You are going to rock the fitness minutes and I'll be trying to keep up with you. I'm glad you found a routine you like and are enthused about. It really does make all the difference! I think you'll be surprised at the weight that comes off with the efforts you have planned!!

LOL! I love the dirty diaper, but you aren't the only one who does this! This is something I'll have to work on too!

Too late for Fair week. Too early for Thanksgiving. Other than the Halloween candy aisle, the obstacles will mostly be of our own making during this Challenge.

Glad you've selected to be a Daisy again. When you stick to the plan you've developed those Miles are really going to add up! Your fellow Daisies will be on the lookout for stinky diapers.

You sound alot like me....I can do the time but the food is my downfall....especially the sugary treats. I am finding with a limited grocery budget at the moment that I cannot buy those things and in turn my weight is dropping/maintaining. Your goals and plans sound really great!! You can do this!!

You'd better watch out because if I get whiff of a dirty diaper, I'm coming after you!
People like you, getting that many minutes in, is going to push me to do more & more.

I agree - the logging is the key. It's not what you eat - it's whether you logged. The gospel according to Spark.

Hmmm, with a plan like that your Daisy team just might be the team to try and beat! And wasn't it you that mentioned being out for BLOOD? Bring it on spark sister! I am going to make my plan up today or tomorrow and I'll use yours as a starting point. Ha ha ha.

I think I hear a hot dog calling you.....

I love your plan! Congrats on a goal of 120 minutes 5 times a week! That's AWESOME!

It made me think... what can I do? We've talked before about how I'd like that 1000 minutes in a month trophy. I just calculated what I need to do on a daily basis in order to earn it - I'll have to push myself like I used to, but I can do it! If you can do 600 minutes in one week, I can do 1000 minutes in a month! Work or no work!

When it comes to logging my food, I do the same as you. I'm great about it as long as I'm GREAT about my eating... as soon as I'm not, I "forget" to fill in my food log! (and who am I kidding, right?)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting this challenge officially started.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Kathy

Sounds like a plan. Good luck and just remember to stick to the plan in both the highs and loses in the coming weeks!
