To My Fellow Bookworms.

Saturday, September 17, 2011

It's been while since I dropped by Sparks People with an update on how I've been doing. Today I thought I would send out a blog for those members of my Sparks Bookworm team and take a moment to talk about the books I've read. Over the past few months I've finished...

State of Wonder - Ann Patchett
The Hummingbird Wizzard - Meredith Blevins
Bel Canto: a novel - Ann Patchett
Thank You Notes - Jimy Fallon
The Forgotten Garden: a novel - Kate Morton
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - Rebecca Skloot
(and from the Mark of the Lion Trilogy by Francine Rivers)
A Voice in the Wind
An Echo in the Darkness

The Mark of the Lion Trilogy is a Christian Fiction series and is so moving and powerful and the first 2 are my favorite. The first 2 take place predomiately in Ancient Rome during the time when Christians were being persecuted during Rome's Gladiator events. This is my second time reading them. I would suggest these on anyones reading list Christian or not.

I am so excited about my new discover of the brilliant writer Ann Patchett. I loved the 2 novels I read of hers, especially State of Wonder. This book was so beautifully written and I could not put it down.

the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a Non-fiction but I was equally pulled into it.

The Forgotten Garden is a mystery that goes back and forth between the views of several different women across 4 generations. I didn't even realize it was a mystery till I found myself trying to figure out the secret that the forgotten garden held. I would recommend this one as well.

Currently I am reading "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austin for the, well... I don't know how many times I've read it now.

I love talking about books so if anyone else well feel free to comment on my blog or Sparks Page or whatever works for you. Thank you for reading.
