My New Walking Poles

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

For the past year or so, I've been looking at walking poles online and pricing them. Last year on SP, I posted a blog asking if anyone uses them when they walk and only a couple responded yes.

In my own neighborhood, I've only seen one person use one pole while walking on the nearby sidewalks. What these do is add challenge to the aerobic aspect and I've always been intrigued but decided I didn't need to spend the money on something I don't know if I'll use.

A couple of weeks ago, I was meandering around Marshalls and lo-and-behold in front of me-walking poles! And in pink psychedelic designs. And at a price that was very reasonable to try them out.

Of course, they now have a home and the next step is to use them. I'll look totally ridiculous, but that never stopped me before. (smiling) If nothing else, they are pretty. If they work me harder while walking, that'll be even better. We'll see what the future holds.

Wishing all a happy day.

Yea, I'm curious how they work too. Been eyeing them at Marshall's for a while, and last week, I got a pair for $2 bucks! Haven't tried them myself yet, I really only needed 1 (which is why I was stoked they were only $2), I wanted it to use in Mission Trails, I've seen way too many snakes on my hikes there. Let us know how you like them, and what they add to your workout.

I want to see pics of you with them!

You'll have to give us a review too!

And look at the bright side. You're reach just extended a couple more feet, so if anyone laughs at you, you can whack them with a pole! :-)

We bought some at Wal-Mart in Arizona when we were hiking in the National Parks - they are very helpful on steep paths and we saw lots of people using them. I've never tried them walking in the neighborhood so please do let us know how you like walking with them, ok?
