I agreed to help a friend with his school assembly science show presentation today. I have a serious case of stage fright. First off, "the girl" as magicians like to call their assistants are usually size 2 or 4, if not young they are at least thin! No way to wave a magic wand and get rid of that many sizes. So the net result will be that the show will be funny, not serious, especially when I am spinning him around on stage on a hovercraft. It is also going to require that I stand on a small platform and spin which reminds me of the circus elephant, lay on the ground while a glass of water is whipped over my head, and look really cute wearing a safety helmet, impossible!
No costume or make up to hide behind. That is one of the reason's I am doing this, to get over my fear of "performing" on stage, in front of a critical audience, who is probably thinking of a million things they would rather be doing. Don't get me started on the smart phone syndrome...so I am getting my feet wet, putting my toes in the water. Next year he might be assisting ME in my school show audition...one could only hope!
So please pray or think positive thoughts at least for me this morning...I need all the help I can get to do a great job. I need to get over the idea that size is what makes an entertainer special...it's a mind thing.
Have a great day everyone!
