S 16/ and a upper body gym workout
Sn 12.5 total= 36.5 miles
Most of the week was pretty pathetic (but we'll call it race recovery), but got motivated over the weekend with a decent back to back set of 16 miles done Saturday night followed up with 12.5 miles of trails on Sunday morning.
The 16 miles were done at the Indian Creek Greenway, partly under a full moon. It was also my longest run yet wearing my Fivefingers. Less humidty and cooler temps made it nice--no new blisters or chafing.
Think the long miles in vvfs contributed to a slight ache and slower pace on Sunday, but nothing bad. (And I could feel the gym workout in my shoulders too.) Monte Sano trails were really enjoyable, except for having to climb over several storm downed trees blocking the trail. I am liking the Saucony trail shoes, but may see about getting some wool Injinji toesocks.
notes: I don't like using Cramer athletic tape for foot taping-- I have an itchy reaction to the adhesive. However, taping completely around the forefoot seems to work to avoid blisters in that area. Ordered a couple different tapes from ZombieRunner to try out. (I'm hoping the Johnson & Johnson Elastikon tape is similar to the flexible fabric they use in their extra strength bandaids.) For anti-chafing, it seems that more is better; helps to apply BodyGlide liberally to my arms, underarms and side of body.
