I wish I could get foodstamps! Geez! That's amazing that you got them and go so much food! YAY! I LOVE that you mentioned getting clean food is actually cheaper than getting junk through a drive thru, etc. I keep telling people that, but no one wants to hear me! LOL At least I know I'm not the only one that knows that ;) Phew :)

So cool that you are buying better things for yourself. And doing better. Proud of you ;)

I have 83 friends on fb... lol Most of mine are just family and the rest are super close friends. So I understand not wanting to deal with people you dont know/trust/have a connection with. Good for you for wanting more of a real relationship with people you are connected with.

Lmao@9000 redneck hoochie mamas! I googled A1C. Now I actually understand what my Dr meant when he said it resets after 3 months. Here is the Wiki definition: In the normal 120-day lifespan of the red blood cell, glucose molecules react with hemoglobin, forming glycated hemoglobin. In individuals with poorly controlled diabetes, the quantities of these glycated hemoglobins are much higher than in healthy people.

Once a hemoglobin molecule is glycated, it remains that way. A buildup of glycated hemoglobin within the red cell, therefore, reflects the average level of glucose to which the cell has been exposed during its life-cycle. Measuring glycated hemoglobin assesses the effectiveness of therapy by monitoring long-term serum glucose regulation. The HbA1c level is proportional to average blood glucose concentration over the previous four weeks to three months. Some researchers state that the major proportion of its value is related to a rather shorter period of two to four weeks.[8]
Mine was 8 point something Aug 16 and he wants it under 6. so as the blood cells die they are replaced with new ones that haven't been exosed to the sugar levels. They are "normal". I see an Endocrinologist 9?27. They will do their own bloodwork. I hope mine will be down.

A1C is a 3 month test. It was mentioned that Walgreens does ahve a test you can purchase. Occassionally the health departments or Walgreens will have Diabetes Education programs and offer free A1C tests.

Good Luck. Spark On

The a1c is a test that doctors do to get a general idea of of what your blood sugar has been doing for the past 3 months (don't quote me on the time I believe it is 3 months). They poke your finger and the results take about 7 minutes. The higher the number the worse it is. I have not been able to see a doctor in a LONG TIME, but the last time I did my a1c was 7.0 that is bad because it should be around 4 or 5. You can also buy the test a1c test at Walgreens. I hope this helps you a little bit.
