Tropical Storm Maria stretched yesterday, like a cat, from the British Virgin Islands to Venezuela. Overnight, however, she gathered herself together, back into a ball, and actually strengthened and gained another 15 mph winds.
But she's heading a bit more NW than originally, so we aren't getting the center, only the outer fringes. Grey, rainy, a little windy but not much.
So DH and I put on shorts and T shirts, grabbed our rain jackets, and headed down to the deli for breakfast - in the Jeep, of course, because in the rain we're better off in the Jeep, despite the open sides. We left the broomstick and rebar that I wedged under the canvas top, it keeps the rain from pooling on the roof. And we had to go into 4 wheel drive to go up and then back down the driveway. Plus through the running water down the hill, the puddles that have collected on the road, and dodge around the accumulated jetsam that piles up after heavy rains.
It was quite the morning adventure, just for some scrambled eggs and toast. But it was also fun to run into the usual crowd, hang out, chat, and pretend the weather wasn't as dismal as it is.
Besides, how can life be bad, the electricity has stayed on!
