Needing to start over...

Saturday, September 10, 2011

I've been doing horribly with my eating habits, drinking soda daily and not tracking my calories at all. Ii haven't exercised in I don't know how long. It's effecting my depression, not to mention having gained back almost 10 pounds that I had lost at the end of last school year. My clothes are fitting tighter again and I just feel blah most of the time. I'm also really tired all the time, which I know is partly due to not exercising.

I really need to start over. I have a goal to reach. It's a medium term goal for now - 174, which will put me in the 'overweight' category instead of 'obese'. So my plan is to start walking after work 5 days a week, at least 2 miles. I'm also going to track my calories, no matter what, whether I know I'm going over or not. I know this will help me see what I need to change. I definitely need to get the soda out of my diet and drink more water. I haven't been reaching my 8 glasses a day either.

Originally when I made my medium term goal I wanted to get there by Thanksgiving, but since I haven't been doing what I should I need to change my goal date. I will hit 174 by the end of the year. That's -1.4 pounds a week. If I really get going I could bypass my goal, which would be great! I know I can do it, I just have to focus on what I want.

You can do it! I have the same problem with tracking, but you hit the nail on the head about tracking calories whether you go over or not. That full disclosure with yourself will keep you honest and on track. There will be tough days, but I know you can do this, WE know can do this... believe in yourself. You'll feel so much better just taking the next step!

Adopt my mantra, and write it on the palm of your hand when you're having a tough day:

When I see that I've had to take a sharpie marker to the palm of my hand to "tattoo" my reminder to myself, I tend to be more capable and determined to treat myself better to get to my goals faster.

You can do this! We all start over, a lot! I start over at least once a week, sometimes more. Sometimes, it is easiest to pick one thing to focus on. The walking sounds wonderful.

Stay focused and if you have to move the goal posts once in awhile, do it. As long as you keep reaching for that goal!!! Keep your chin up!!

You know - we all have moments where our planning and desires go BOOM and we have to hit the reboot button. But, we are all given the opportunity to start anew - to start over.

So, for you, DO OVER! And you CAN DO THIS!!! I believe in the power we have over our minds and spirit. You have set a logical goal and a plan on how to watch what you are doing.

Be strong! Be the SPARK!!! You can and will do this!!!

Goal resetting is something MOST of us seem to be doing at least once in our journey. I'm glad to see that determination back!

Failure is giving up...COMPLETELY. Success only comes from continuing on and getting back up when you fall. So what if you stayed down a little longer than was comfortable? You got back up, that's what matters. You are a Champion. A Champion gets up when (s)he can't. You've been dealing with a lot and still you got up and you are ready to move forward. I will say it again. You are a Champion. You are stronger than your depression, stronger than your doubts, stronger than you know. Keep telling yourself this until it becomes truth to you. Now get out there and amaze yourself because really, that's who you are doing it for, aren't you?
