Stage Two of the Spark Diet- Healthy Habits

Saturday, September 10, 2011

CORRECTION*** I said in this video to eat an appetizer for an entrée AND a lunch portion for your dinner. However, I meant to say eat an appetizer for an entrée OR a lunch portion for your dinner.

Stage Two of the Spark Diet- Healthy Habits

In this video I talk about a strategy which is called Control portions.

Control Portions:

I want you to know that controlling my portions made a big difference in helping me lose weight & I know for a fact when you control your portions it will make a huge difference as well!

There are a few portion control strategies I have used which helped me maintain portions & keep them under control:

~ When you eat at a restaurant order an appetizer as an entrée or order from the lunch menu at dinner time.

~ Read food labels & try very hard to only eat one serving size of high calorie foods.

~ Drink plenty of water. I drink between 8-10 measure cups of water per day and it helps a lot!

~ Above all pray. Asking God to help me lose weight has helped me more than any exercise, any piece of equipment, & any amount f self-control. Praying and asking God to help me has been the MOST effective & BEST thing I have ever done.

No discipline brings joy, but seems grievous & painful, but afterward it is peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

To help you incorporate this week's strategy into your life Sparkpeople has come up with some action steps. I have included a link to read more about each action step for you.

ACTION STEPS:

1) Buy a set of measuring cups and measuring spoons

2) Measure all single serving sizes for the food you eat this week

3) Create a leftover storage system

This is wonderful, GLITTERGIRL. This is exactly what you had me doing in 2012, when you taught me how to use the nutrition tracker, which has been a blessing to my life.
In 2013, when I began focusing on another issue, I slowly fell away from my accomplished goal of reaching my goal weight and being on maintenance. Recently,I went from my goal weight up to 138 - 140 pounds. I hated getting on the dreaded scale when the pounds came back on. I had started at 146 pounds in February of 2012. When I began getting serious a few months ago, I started not too far from where I originally began in 2012.
I have been measuring my food, and rarely do I go over my allotted 1550 calories a day. I exercise every day of the week. If I get too late of a start or something comes up and I can't get my 30 minutes in , I at least do 15 to 20 minutes, but that happens rarely. I don't feel good about my daily agenda if I don't do these things.
My goal is getting back to my 115 pounds that I reached in October 2012. Believe me, I will do it. God makes it possible. With His Grace, I'm doing it, "a day at a time". I'm now 133.5. emoticon emoticon emoticon GLITTERGIRL!!!
