Scenes From My Walk in the Rain

Thursday, September 08, 2011

I live in Central Pa, a short 1 minute walk from the banks of the Mighty Susquehanna. Today I was glad that walk is uphill.

Our friends from Sunbury, PA called yesterday to tell us how bad it was in central PA. They had 6 inches of rain in their basement and the wife did not think she could get home because of closed roads. We lived in PA when hurricane Agnes caused such serious flooding in Harrisburg and all around. Rain seemed to last all summer. Hope all around you are safe and sound!

Not sure if you've talked to my mom lately or not. She's back taking care of Aunt MaryAnn. She sent me a few pictures from her walk yesterday...unbelievable! I hope things settle for you all soon...though it looks like it's going to be another few days til things start to recede. Poor Aunt Carol...she's been without power since Wednesday night!

Hugs to you!! Praying that things don't get worse for any of you!

This has been a terrible few weeks. Between what is continuing in your area and my SparkFriends being tormented by fire in Texas, it's just too much.

Wow. I hope you're safe and haven't lost anything precious.
A dear friend (and my ex-husband and dad to my daughter) was flooded out of his home on the Susquehanna - lost almost everything. Powerful stuff.

That looks VERY familiar! I live on a peninsula in Southern Maryland. We have ONE ROAD that runs the entire length of the peninsula. It was closed due to flooding on the north end AND the south end today! Fortunately I didn't have to go anywhere! This weather is CRAZY!

I used to have friends (deceased) that lived in Williamsport, Pa. There are some places along the river where the road is at the base of the mountains with the river on the other side. Please keep an eye on your weather forecasts and get to higher ground if you need to.

I saw some of the pictures today on the news and a friend from North Carolina phoned to see if we were okay. I hope you have a way of escape planned if you need to use it and have friends or family that can take you in. We have no place to go in an emergency and would be shelter residents.
