So, on Tue night my mom took my niece to soccer practice because I had my first belly dance lesson. When I finished up I called her and Mom told me there was a new girl on the team. We're mid-season and I didn't think Mom could be right about that so I kept saying "you're sure she's new to the team? not a sub? maybe someone who was on vacation last week?" Mom was confident that this girl was new. So, later mom said "I didn't want to say anything while I was at soccer, but I know this girl is brand new . . she's very distinct. The poor little thing is fat as a butterball and round as she is tall." (Now, my mom wasn't saying it to be mean or cruel . . . we're both plus-size ladies, you know. She was just emphasizing that she couldn't possibly have missed this particular child being on the team before.)
A little bit later, she asked "Oh, I forgot you started belly dance tonight. . . How did it go? Are you good at it?" I said, "Um, no. I'm not good at it (yet). I'm quite confident that my belly dance teacher is, at this very moment, telling her mother 'I had a student tonight, poor little thing, who is as fat as a butterball . . . as round as she is tall!'" We both laughed for five mins straight!
Oh well, it was fun and I sure did feel it in my abs and thighs afterward . . . it's a start, right?
