New jeans without the "W" in the size

Monday, September 05, 2011

After our camping trip I finally bought some jeans that were a size smaller than the ones I'd been wearing. The 18Ws have been pretty baggy to say the least but I have been hesitant to replace them. I am guessing I am not the only one who still sees herself as "fat" after losing some weight. Really I am still fat. I still have a long way to go but... anyway... I bought 16W and they were okay.

Well yesterday I bought some jeans that are a size 16. No W, just size 16. Now granted they have are the "relaxed" fit but still there is just something really ego boosting about getting back into normal sizes. I'd like to get down to a 12 or 14 of course, but the 16 is a great step!

My husband has been very supportive too. We talked about our weight losses today and he complimented me on my progress and even grabbed my butt a few times. haha... like I said flattering and ego-boosting. I told him now that I know my size I am probably going to have to buy some more jeans and he is good with that. :-)

Rebecca, you're doing just fine ! you're making slow steady progress and that's what matters ! Remember, this isn't the Biggest Loser. Those types of losses and dramatic changes are just not typical. So, don't get down on yourself because the weight isn't coming off fast enough.

Slow and easy really does win this race ! Let me tell you something I learned from my own years of yo yo dieting,"the faster you take the weight off, the faster it packs back on". You are doing this the right way i.e. slowly.

    Way to go!!

I think seeing ourselves still as fat, even knowing we lost weight is just a mind-set that we are going to have to grow out of over time. I've lost 120lbs (re-losing a few again) and even though right NOW I am 40lbs from goal weight (was 28), I still see myself as fat. I know I am thinnER, but not thin. I refuse to call myself that, but it's something that's my own mind's issue.

Just look at what you have overcome! Your mind will adjust to your new size(s) in time!
