In June of 2010 I had really given up. My clothes were all too tight, school had just ended and I was exhausted. I decided to just order the next size up in clothes. So when I found a great sale on pants that I love (twill like Dockers), I ordered 6 pair. Enough to get me through the week.
Then I went to classes for technology in the classroom around the state, choosing hotels with pools. I started swimming- just treading water in the deep end, for 2 hours every evening. I did this for several weeks, and along the way, I joined SparkPeople. I started reading and I joined a few groups. Not too many, so I could try to keep up. I was watching what I was eating and when I came home, I joined a Wellness Center with a pool. And I started swimming laps 6 days a week. At my next dr. visit, I had lost 26 pound. My DH said I had more energy, and I lost a total of 36 pounds.
But as the weather got colder, it was harder to make myself go swim after work, in the dark and get home in the dark, in the snow at nearly 9 pm. So I swam less, but kept tracking my meals, and while I did not gain, I did not loose. Spring in school is so busy, and I just did not make my self go back to swim.
When school was out, I did more state training, stayed in a hotel with a pool, and so got pack to swimming. So now I am swimming again, and I try for 6 days a week. It is so helpful for stress relief and for cardio. My school year is busier because my class size has almost doubled. But I am inspired. Friday I got Yoga DVDs for beginners, and did my first attempts last night. Attempts is the right word. But I can get better. The best part is none of those larger pants fit, none have even had the tags removed. I plan to cut them down to size, because none of the pants that were too snug in June of 2010 fit now. For a different reason, they are all too big. This is a happy way to start into Autumn.
