Week in Vegas (pics) + 4 days into JE 12 week challenge

Thursday, September 01, 2011

I spent last Tues-Sat in Las Vegas, NV with my mom & aunt. We had a blast & I am proud to say that I ate clean & healthy 90% of the time!!! We stayed at the MGM Grand, and like most Vegas hotels, a refrigerator is not included. SO, we got creative & all brought insulated cooler bags in our suitcases & then used the free hotel ice to keep our food cold.

Once we got to Vegas, the first thing we did after checking into the MGM Grand was take a taxi to the closest Trader Joe (about 4 miles). It was my first time @ TJ & I was sooooooooooo excited!!!! I wish we would get a TJ in my area!

We also did a TON of walking! Like, several hours of non-stop walking every single day. Great exercise! My bootie was so sore, but in that wonderful exercise sort of way.

My mom & I at the Bellagio fountains (mom has lost over 50 lbs this year! woohoo!)

Our one big diet splurge was Max Brenner's Chocolate Shop. A-MAZiNG!!!!!!!!! I had a light salad for dinner before we went, and then we got dessert to split between the three of us. It was absolutely incredible!

I loved relaxing at the pools! Much needed vacation!

The three of us outside the Encore hotel

On Monday I started the JE 12 week LiveFit challenge. I have been eating clean & have done two days of the work out program so far. I did triceps on Mon, took Tues as a rest day because I was so stinkin' sore, I wanted to workout yesterday but was gone from 5:30am-10:00pm so I didn't get a chance, then did Biceps/Back today. I still have 2 more work outs to go before next Monday. The clean eating is going well. Have been on track with planned meals & eating 98% clean every day! YAY!

I am really looking forward to seeing the changes in my body throughout this program.

Hope you all are having a wonderful week! I'm off to eat my frozen Fage greek yogurt with strawberries. Mmmmmmm!

emoticon Glad ur Mom is down 50#. You DON'T have to REGAIN the weight. Stay away from sugar/starches since they spike your INSULIN and make you crave more junk. What you did on your trip was wonderful. Most people go to Vegas and "pig out" on the buffets.
I know one woman on YouTube who went on a three-day vacation and gained a whooping EIGHT POUNDS. That is someone who did nothing but eat!! emoticon
I loved the idea of the Refrigerator bags in your luggage & then using the Hotel free Ice. GREAT IDEA.

I LOVE Vegas, I got married there and stayed at the Bellagio in a room overlooking the fountains. That was 7 years ago though and it has changed so much since then.

Way to stay on track in Vegas with the diet. That would be so incredibly hard for most people. Of course, Trader Joe's does make it easier, love that store. I am excited because I heard we are getting one on my area of Texas, about 20 minutes from where I live!!
