"Do you want to skip the scale?"
Thursday, September 01, 2011
Today I went to the doctor for a sinus infection. The nurse asked if I wanted to skip the scale. I haven't been to the doctor in months, lack of health insurance will do that to you, but seriously, what kind of a dumb question is that?
I said no, I want to be weighed. Better to know where I am at instead of dealing with denial. And I am back where I started a year ago. But I knew that. But now my doctor knows that, so we have some accountability going here. Blood work tomorrow to see where I am at so I am fasting tomorrow morning.
Totally excited about getting my hair cut and highlighted, its sounds lame, but I haven't gone to the hair dresser in three months either. Friday we get our first real paycheck from my husband's new job and I am very excited. Fortunately I have been busy clowning all summer and hosting my students, so as of Friday we should be caught up with our mortgages.
The house is so quiet with no international students, no daughter with her giggling friends, and no puppy. It is eerie. I miss Adrien, my French student who left Saturday. We were swimming every day, and it was great to have a work out buddy!
I have to totally clean out the kitchen. A summer full of boys that don't like vegetables...
I am impressed that after receiving them a month ago there are still Belgian chocolates left in the box that I received as a gift. Doing better on some things, worse on others.
This weekend I am going away with my family to celebrate my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Very excited to get to spend time with them relaxing. I am not going to "diet" while away, but I will try and make wise choices and get lots of exercise in. Our long swim, which I am sure my sister Becky will join in on this year after completing her first triathalon!
I am excited, now that my husband is working perhaps I can sign up a a race in the spring, and a couple of 5 k's for motivation.
I know what I need to do, time to do it!
Happy Labor Day everyone!
