I did my best but it needs imagination.

Tonight my nose detected there was a skunk in our yard.
By now it was really dark, DH went outside and put the pool light on and we watched another skunk in the yard. Not the one from last night but a similar one. More white than black and much smaller. I reached for my camera and this was the best I could do it was so dark.

They really are such nice looking animals to me. Many people have them as pets, I would love to have one they are very smart. A long time ago DH and I went to a pet shop that advertised skunks that had the scent glands removed. People were handling them and buying them but my nose could still smell their odour so we had give up on the idea of buying one.
We do like to watch them and do so regularly since there are so many in this area.
I worked really hard today. I walked 4 miles on the rail trail and raked and prepared ground to be seeded tomorrow. Total exercise was 260 minutes and I have 16550 steps now to be proud of.
Sorry the picture is so bad but I needed to prove I could do it. I needed a special lens for night time. I did use the one on my camera but it was just too dark out there.
emoticonPat in Maine still waiting for the storm. Rain is scheduled to begin soon. We expect water in the basement but we are prepared. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

What a beautiful skunk! I think they are really cute too, but the smell sort of ruins it for me. Way to go on all that exercise! emoticon

Our congregation offered prayers last night for every one who lay in the path of Irene.
I added your name so I do hope you are both safe and dry.
Unusual picture of the skunk, never seen a white one before though, we have a lot of the regular kind around here and whenever I catch a whiff of them I have to check on
my dog's whereabouts she is friendly and curious a very bad combination when
dealing with a skunk and a dog who has the thick long coat of a collie. We have a lot of racoons and squirrels here as well, don't recall having coons in England but we did
have badgers maybe they are cousins!!!

I can see it enough to believe you had a night time visitor! Yes, they are one of God's beautiful creatures but I don't believe I would want one as a pet. But then, I don't want a goat,a miniature pig or lizard either! My hubby is lucky I tolerate our dog, lol. As you can tell, I prefer animals outside my home.

Such a pretty animal. Can see it quite well so thanks for taking the photo. Watching the hurricane news laste night and all morning, looks like more flooding than anything else. Glad it is weakening as it heads north. Hope the rain and flooding in your area is not too bad when it hits that area.

I have heard that skunks are too smart to make good pets. The are curious and like to get into things. It's probably best to enjoy them in their own environment. Good luck with the rain. You and the east coast are in my prayers.

This reminded me that I need to look for my pedometer. I want to see how many steps I take on Tuesday and Thursday when I am teaching.

Thanks for trying on the picture. I don't know if I have ever seen a skunk that was more white than black.
