Football, Basketball, & A Virtual 5k

The kid had his first football practice this morning. It was sort of an evaluation just to see what the kids know how to do. He's doing much better this year compared to last year, but I guess that is to be expected. Hubby is coaching again, but there was only one other dad coaching in our age group and enough kids for about 4 teams. I hope some other parents step up to volunteer or else the teams will be huge and that makes it hard to give everyone enough playing time.

Later in the afternoon, Hubby, the kid, and I walked up to the playground at the kid's school where he showed us a game he invented at recess with his friends. So cute! Then, we shot some hoops (with a soccer ball...LOL!), and I think I have the kid persuaded into playing basketball this winter. I taught him the correct way to shoot the ball and he's not too bad. We might make an athlete out of him, yet!

Everything is still proceeding well on the nutrition front. The Fiber One bars have really helped me with meeting my fiber target. They're also surprisingly tasty. I got the caramel and the strawberry. Both flavors are good, but the caramel tastes like a candy bar. Yum! I also tried the Fage brand of Greek yogurt this time and it was better. I only felt a tiny bit queasy...hardly even noticeable. It's still probably not something I would be able to eat every day, but I think I might be able to use it in moderation.

Exercise is going well, too. I've been doing my DVDs and I signed up for Spark's virtual Halloween 5k. I picked the walk/jog option, but I'm going to try my best to jog the whole thing. I've never done a race (virtual or otherwise), so it should be fun. I also haven't run in several months, so I'm basically starting from scratch. I'm going to start training on September 5, but I haven't decided if I'm going to use a specific program or just wing it. I'm just hopeful that my shins will cooperate this time.
