Does anyone know what is below your liver?

Saturday, August 27, 2011

I am falling apart. The last two days I have been having pain right below my liver. I have no idea what is there. When I look at anatomy pictures it makes no sense to me. this morning the pain is better. Something weird is going on with me. I am so worried that when I see the Dr on wednesday he will tell me that he can't find anything wrong and then I will have to be like this for the rest of my life. Does anyone know what is below your liver? toward my side. I had my gallbladder out last October.

Just because you had your gall bladder out does not mean that something or nuther can not get stuck in one of the little vessels that empties out into your intestines. People can even get gall stones even without having a gall bladder for them to be stored in. Sometimes they can get stuck, sometimes they dissolve spontaneously too.

There is a lot of interesting stuff in that area, lots of connections, therefore it could be a zillion different things, like something connecting to the liver, or the pancreas, there are a lot of little things that can get stuck.

It could even be a bacteria causing a slight ulceration, those are not always in the stomach, btw. Could be in the lumen of your intestines, something with your pilli, a seed or a nut stuck, irritating but will spontaneously resolve as well. Though in that case, you might need further assessment, to know you have issues with nuts and seeds and what not... SO many things, seriously we can not pin point anything here on line.

Also know we are not all built the same, have seen more than one heart on the other side of where most folks have it. Have seen some folks have extra arteries, even. The body is amazing! We are all different in some ways, similar in other respects.

In medicine we have a saying, think horses, not zebras. It is probably nothing serious at all. Rare things happen, but rarely :)

But just know there are a lot of different things in that area, and also a phenomenon of referrred pain, which is pain felt in one place, but is from some where else on the body. The actual cause of your may pain may be from a completely different, but connected area. We are connected in oh so many glorious ways.

Very proud of you for listening to your body. This is particularly important with women, as we are sort of used to pains here and there and women are notorious for dismissing signs and symptoms. Often women dismiss so many pains that are very serious in nature, but do not present in a classic way. Classic being the way men present, which is what most doctors are familiar with.

Heart attacks for one, often present very differently in women. Not saying this has anything to do with your heart or blood vessels. Just saying women present signs and symptoms differently. There is no way of truly assessing this here online, and I surely will never diagnose anyone. That is your physicians job. If the pain continues, call the Nurse Hotline, which most hospitals have, let them further assess you, ask you more detailed questions to see if you need to be sooner than later.

Obviously it is always best to err on the side of caution. If you need to go in sooner, do it. Glad you have an appointment with your doctor, let em check it out, he or she can palpate and narrow down your symptoms, can run some very simple blood tests and perform a simple but thorough exam.

Further assessment definitely is in order. Let them know you are rather nervous and did not want to even go to the doctors, but I for one am very proud of you for speaking up.

Pain is your body telling you something. I am very glad you are listening.

Your health matters!!!

Liver pain is lower than gall bladder pain. Your kidney is the next lower, but usually would cause back pain. Appendix is fairly low on the right side. Hope the pain goes away, or at least they figure out what it is.
