Answer "What's your weight story" with these questions! Feel free to respond on your own blog.
1.) How old are you? I am 44 years young.
2.) How long have you been overweight, obese, or unfit? I was thin until I went to college. I think I gained the Freshman 30 instead of Freshman 15. I did get that weight off, though. At least most of it. My real struggle started when I got married. DH loved to eat, and I loved to cook. We both gained quite a bit of weight those first few years of marriage. Then came DD #1. I gained 50 pounds and kept most of them. DD #2 added to my weight. I was obese for several years (youngest DD is now 12).
3.) What made you decide to get healthy?
I decided almost daily that I was going to get healthy. It just didn't usually last longer than a few days. But, last fall DH caved and decided to build a pool. Was I ever motivated?! I found SP about a month after we started construction, and DH decided that having his wife tied to the kitchen cooking for 7 men daily, and sometimes as many as 12 people, was just a little too much. Too much work, too much time, and too much money. He built a break room for the guys, and they are on their own for meals now. No more huge lunches and desserts every day. I have time to exercise! (At least when I am not in the field.)
As for the pool, I even bought a two piece late this summer! DD had her volleyball team over last night, and I have to say that I looked better than a few of those high schoolers! (Not that it takes much these days, but I was still proud and didn't hesitate to walk around without my coverup.)
4.) Has anyone ever made rude/mean comments to you about how you look?
Yes, it is a long story, but a jerk who was supposed to be a friend made the comment that he wondered "who that short, fat chick was going in and out of his house." It was in front of a lot of people, and when DH found out about it he was fighting mad. The guy and his wife are divorced now, but I saw Jerk at the youth fair this summer. AND I served him a pork plate at our picnic this weekend. I wanted to say, "Hey, I'm not short and fat anymore, but you are still a d#*k."
5.) What do you hate the most about your current/starting size?
Current size: I wish my tummy was flat again. And I don't like the size of my thighs, but they are better than before!
Starting size: OMG my butt was big! And when I bent over sideways, my skin on my waist would make a roll. I have never had rolls on my torso, and it grossed me out.
6.) What was your favorite unhealthy food before?
Ok, this could be a book. I loved chips (still do), pizza (still do), Velveeta/Rotel cheese dip with chips (still do). You get the picture. Loved eating fries at any fast food place, Sonic onion rings, Sonic Blasts. I was most definitely a binge eater.
7.) What's some of your favorite healthy foods now?
Now? I am really into the Clif Oatmeal Raisin Walnut bars for breakfast. I enjoy chicken, greek yogurt, salads, AND McDonald's ice cream cones. lol
8.) What is the hardest part of this journey?
Several things, really. Mixing up my food. I think I am in a rut. There is only so much you can do with chicken breasts. I do love them, though.
Getting my cardio in can be a challenge if I don't do it in the morning. Also, I have not done any ST for months. Thought about it really hard yesterday. Hope to do some today!
9.) What does your workout regime consist of?
I spend time on my ellipti-kill and dreadmill. The EM is my calorie burner, and the TM is to give my feet a break because they go to sleep on me while on the EM. I use a Garmin 405CX with a HR band to figure my calorie burn. Spark People estimates on calorie burn are out of line.
10.) What do you want everyone to know about you?
I weigh almost all food I log, unless it comes in preportioned containers. Have you seen what 3 cups of romaine really looks like? It is 85 grams, and you would have to pack that stuff in there to get 3 cups. And how do I know my "cup" of melon is the same as your "cup?" Almost every food item on SP can be logged in grams, and the nutrition labels list everything in grams, as well. I love my digital scale
Now it's your turn............let's hear your "story"
