Clean White Paws …
Doree sprang from her slumber as if she had springs on her feet the very moment the ‘first’ alarm had gone off.
She sleepily made her way through the cold kitchen to the back patio doors; hoping to see the first signs of Spring. Disappointed, once again she turned to light the stove to start warming the cabin.
Just then she was startled to hear scratching on the patio door. She whirled around quickly to see what was making the noise. To her amazement she saw her cat Mr. Jones peering back at her through the glass.
Once again he made his way out the doggy door but for some reason he had not yet figured out that this same door would also allow him to come back into the house as well.
She opened the door quickly and Mr. Jones rushed in bringing with him his four muddy, white paws and wet fur. Doree reached for his food dish and as she began putting in his food, she became mesmerized by the effort Mr. Jones was steadily making to see that his large, white paws were completely clean. He left not even a spot on either of his paws. He just continued cleaning diligently until his paws were completely clean. He did not even step onto the mat that held his food dish.
This was not a ‘new’ chore for him; this was a ‘way of life.’ However, this time was the first time the Holy Spirit revealed Himself in Mr. Jones’ actions. Doree listened intently as He began His instruction.
The rain had caused the path that led to the back patio to become muddy. What exactly are we, God’s people walking through? What is in the ‘mud’ on our shoes, so to speak?
Our walk of faith is a walk of steadfast endurance and faithfulness to the truth of the Gospel. We must live according to the Truth and do not waver from it. Our faithfulness will be a joy and encouragement to others. 3 John 4, “I have no greater joy that to hear that My children walk in the Truth.” In His light we see truth, live the truth, and speak the truth. The Holy Spirit is the inner Light Who helps us see what this means for each relationship and circumstance in our lives.
Christ is our Light. He promised that those who follow Him will not walk in darkness. ~John 8:12~, “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.”
I’ve learned a lot from Mr. Jones’ white paws. We must imitate what is good. Do not follow the example of those who walk in pride and are given to greed and control. Your good and pure behavior testifies that God is in you.
Keep your ‘paws clean!’ walk in God’s Light according to His ways and stay on His chosen path for your life …
