Yesterday I was in DC, at my desk, when the Earthquake hit. Needless to say we got evacuated and were told to leave the city. I live 50 miles south of the city, the dilemma was getting to my ride to get out. She was in VA, 10ish miles away.
So, I attempted the metro - what a joke. The lines, the waits, the slow trains. I said I will walk to the furthest metro station to VA - so I started my mile walk. I made it, quite quickly I might add (in a suit & in dress shoes). Then I got to that metro station - it was a comedy club in itself, there was a line to get in the metro!
I and a friend of mine decided we would brave the walk. 4 more miles, 5 miles in all - I was scared. Seeing as I have not really been sticking to all the things I have been taught lately.
The walk was hard, it hurt - I climbed stairs, crossed 2 bridges, ran across the freeway BUT I made it. I can do 5 miles, in under an hour, in a suit. Thus realizing I can do 5 miles, in running clothes and lose this weight. What an eye opener!
