swayback??

Monday, August 22, 2011

I've been having issues with my back ever since my daughter was born. I THINK since I put on weight right after she was born my swayback from my pregnancy was never corrected. Now it's causing back pain all the time! Does anyone know of any easy solutions to fix this? I've noticed that when I'm standing up I'm walking with my stomach out so so my back is not aligned correctly when I walk. HELP?! Does anyone else or HAS anyone else suffered from this issue?

I recently read an article (can't remember where) that talked about walking backwards to relieve back pain either on the ground (level surface of course) or on the treadmill. I'm trying it lately myself and it does seem to bring some relief to my back and my legs. I don't think you need to go far or worry about speed (I do 10-15 ft, back and forth a couple of times a day making sure to engage my abs) I asked my trainer about doing this and she said it changes your posture and forces you to use different muscles so she recommended I continue.

One thing I can tell you for sure is that if you do core exercises (crunches, etc.) it helps a TON with the back. I do not have chronic back pain, ut I do get it once in awhile. The stronger the core, the stronger the abs, the less stress on the back, thus less pain.

Check out Spark People strength exercises. There are tons of crunches to choose from, and other exercises.
