Ok, so we went to the in-laws for the weekend. Some of you may know the story of what happens when we go down there. Basically, the food is now where near healthy and since the the town is one of those "blink and you might miss it" towns, exercise is limited to walking. However, watch out for the burning of trash, yard waste and EVERYTHING else.
Since we hadn't been in a while, we decided to stay for two nights and hope our allergies survive. We rushed so we could have dinner with them...usually, pizza, chili, burgers or spaghetti and sometimes accompanied by dole iceberg salad mix, Italian FF dressing, mild full fat cheddar cheese and maybe some canned over-salted green beans cooked in bacon grease. Just spaghetti and garlic bread this time.
Then in the morning we ventured out for a local breakfast buffet. My hubby used to go to this place with his grandparents when he was a kid and now they have a breakfast buffet on Saturdays. It was ok, but about 70+ calories and no fruit in site, of course. Biscuits and gravy, my mother in law said they were powdered eggs, french toast sticks, greasy pancakes, hash brown triangles, home fries, bacon and sausage links. We were full. I got back and entered my food and the hubby and kids took off for a treasure hunt/walk.
The birthday party we came for was at 1pm and turns out it wasn't accompanied by lunch, only chips and dip and cake and ice cream....lovely. We didn't eat. So, what a great lunch for us. Dinner was a fundraiser at my father in law's school he's been volunteering at. They had bland meatloaf, powdered mashed taters, baconized canned green beans, very creamy and sweet cole slaw, a roll and then dessert. Drinks....tea, lemonade or the local water (bad by itself so you better flavor it).
I had brought my Kellogg's Protein Plus cereal for breakfast and ate that on Sunday! MORE SPAGHETTI for lunch. We went home after that.
During the time we are there we usually take a few walks because otherwise we would be sitting on the couch just watching t.v. all day. We love our family, but we usually have to detox after getting back.
I can't imagine eating that way everyday and not exercising like I do. I am so grateful for the wonderful opportunities I have in my life and the mindset have developed. I now crave healthy food and exercise. I am looking forward to the gym tomorrow. Looking forward to eating salad, hummus, veggies and drinking water and unsweetened decaf tea! What a wonderful amazing life I have.
