Followers of Jesus are most effective when attitudes and actions are aligned with His.
(From Our Daily Bread)
I want to first start out saying that this is the first time I ever post a blog….In other words, I am not a writer so please forgive me in advance. I will try to express what the Lord has placed in my heart to share.
I started to reflect on these words and thought, am I being an effective Christian? Sometimes we think that we are doing all the right things because we do our daily routines of reading the bible, praying and/or fasting however are we really doing what God is asking us to do?
Please by no means think I am pointing any fingers to anyone because as soon as I point one finger to someone there are at least three pointing right back to me. My biggest desire at this time in my life is to do the right thing for God. I want to submit my will to him and have him lead my every step. And I can tell you that I know it is very hard on many occasions because we come against obstacles, trials and/or tribulations along the way but when confronted with them I know deep in my heart that I am on the right path for God.
We are more effective as Christians if we are Christ-like. How do we become Christ-like: through the reading of the word (the Bible), through prayers (our communication with God), through worship (our singing to our God) and through our service (serving others). But the most important thing here is let our Lord God change us from the inside out. Once we start to “Let Go” and “Let GOD” changes occur and our whole lifestyle changes, our attitudes changes, our behaviors changes, our actions changes and our words changes. People then take notice and need to ask what is different about us and that is the opportunity that God grants to us to speak about him to others. Our nation is in need right now for all of us to be Christ-Like and speak about him.
Let us be the reflection of Jesus throughout our home, our neighborhood, in our workplace and in whom we come across.
“Lord I want to be a testimony of who Jesus Christ is in my life. Let me be a reflection of what Jesus means in my life through my actions, my words, my attitudes & my behaviors. As you grant me opportunities please let me always be able to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit which are: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I pray for any missed opportunities I have let pass by and help me to be bold in speaking of you to my community. Lord, I lift up our nation which is in great need to come back to you. Rise up your children at this moment to kneel and pray for the souls that are lost and without hope. In you precious Son’s name – Jesus Christ, AMEN!”
Wherever I am, whatever I do,
O God, please help me to live
In a way that makes me credible
As your representative. —Egner
