Getting Rid Of 5 Things

Thursday, August 18, 2011

This month I have been getting ready for grandbaby, and this week especially I have been focused on getting rid of clutter...1 piece at a time. That is my goal-just get rid of something goal is to use it up or throw it out...and donate what i can. Today's daily dare for our Teams was to get rid of 5 things...i came up with it and yet, i really didn't think i could come up with 5 things...then i went into the refrigerator...uh...ick...i haven't done the refrigerator for a couple weeks due to busy schedule and being sick... so i tackle it... i found a piece of ham, long forgotten...and 1 thing gone... oh, some veggie soup i can have for lunch...except i got so excited that it landed on the floor...2 things gone... chili from last week...gone... oh, just enough watermelon for a serving...breakfast here it comes... 4 things now gone... i found an old bun...just 1 lonely bun...hard as a rock...gone... then i realize...that's 5 things... i did it..i made not only my personal goal of 1 thing a day, but todays daily dare of 5 things... wohoo...and then i see a quarter bag of frito's... stale... gone... i just bypassed goal and it's still early... i haven't even gone to work yet. and then i see the chicken and noodle parmasan that i forgot to put in the freezer the other night... still good... that's lunch and another thing gone... so now my refrigerator is and goals met... now ready for more healthy food to go in :)

quote for today: "I love people. I love my family, my children . . . but
inside myself is a place where I live all alone and
that's where you renew your springs that never dry up." ~Pearl S. Buck

I haven't been getting the daily dares either, but then I don't get on the computer much during the day. Today we had an earthquake and that shook me up in more ways than one, lol.

I like this idea ~ getting rid of something/s every day, rather than trying to do a huge clearing out on a given day, which can be very stressful and overwhelming. The atmosphere at your place must be filled with excitement, nerves and extreme happiness about baby's arrival. Have a great weekend, JoDee!

Way to go - it sounds like my need to do Baby Steps - and I am winning.

We moved, last year, from a five bedroom farm house with three out buildings to a two bedroom apartment. Next, we'll be moving with only a pick up truck (with cap) and a mini van. To save gas money, we may pack up the truck and park it until we get some steady pay cheques coming in. I need to keep downsizing and only have 13 days maximum to do it in. It is becoming a little scary. I don't want to waste anything, including time. Thankfully we have a donation center just a block away! :-D I've walked there, many times with arm-loads of things and it's even convenient to drop off with the van as I'm heading out for other things as well. :-D
