Garden Bounty for Dinner

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

We are now in the glory of having our first vegetable garden. What was ready for picking is what's for dinner. I'm going to sautee and simmer these up and then cut up some sausages and cook some pasta to have a big bowl of healthiness!

You see before you zucchini, chard, basil, rosemary, apples, baby eggplants, 2 varieties of tomatoes, and one very tiny chocolate sweet pepper.

Wow! Great harvest! My mouth is watering just looking at the photo.

I am so envious!

In the Colorado high-county vegetables take a long time to grow and can't be planted until early June. Our leafy green crop is ready which is sweet basil, swiss chard, spinach and cilantro. Tomatoes won't be ready for another month. The cakes are just starting to blossom. The carrots are going to take a couple more months. The only we can grow these vegetables is inside our greenhouse. The only crop that can grown outside is potatoes. I planted 76 seed potatoes but my spuds still have a couple more months to go.

It looks like you are eating well. Nothing beats garden-fresh vegetables.

I garden and I love just running out there and picking stuff for supper! Plus, it's a joy not to spend the money at the grocery store! Lovely pic!

Your new background is very nearly as gorgeous as your bounty from the garden!
We've only had luck with romain and cabbage thus far. No tomatos to speak of yet emoticon I hope everyone enjoyed a delish dinner!

Everything looks yummy! What's a chocolate sweet pepper? I've never heard of it. Do you eat them raw or cooked?
