Toffee, A Therapy Dog?
Tuesday, August 16, 2011
After attending the annual Point Beach Picnic on Sunday, I came away satisfied that I had learned something about what it takes to train one's dog to be a Therapy Dog: Our neighbor, Brad, from Point Beach Drive, has a beautiful, large Akita named Sparticus, who passed the Therapy Dog test. Brad told me where to go on the web to find out info about this. I did. There is a 15 point list. Toffee can do about 9 things on the list, but not that reliably. I will try to work more on sit-stay with him when we do our daily walks, etc.
Mom wants me to get her a one woman show in Milford. She is so anxious. She keeps telling me time is running out (she's in her '70's) and she's feeble, etc., hindered by her arthritis, etc. (I don't want to hear her doom and gloom prognostications). I just tell her, "Mom, I'll help you find a gallery. End of story. I don't want to hear why. I know you're anxious to make your mark and get your art out there.". I do understand. But I don't like hearing her talk about her frailties.
Steven will be 51 this Friday. It will be the first birthday he'll have without any of the parents who raised him. It's strange that the only parent that he has left from his family is his birth father, whom he found after the age of 45 and they are now inseparable--they talk to each other at least 10 x a day between the coasts! well, they're working on a project together--as usual, a speculative one.
