6 months at maintenance!!

Can you believe August is almost over!!??!!

I'm happy to report I've maintained my weight for 6 months and am actually a pound under my goal! It's not been easy I can tell you that!! Every day.......all of us are faced with choices, not only what we are going to eat, but when or if we are going to get that exercise in? Of course, there are other choices we have to make as calling or not calling that old friend, your mom, your dad, your daughter, your son!! Choices abound daily from getting out of bed or staying in!! A friend saw my painted toe nails the other day and said, I don't have time to paint mine, and I said, I don't either, but I make the time. Let's face it.......WE DO HAVE THE TIME to do what we really REALLY want to do!! It's all about choices!!!

Getting back to the choices of what to eat.....veggies or chips? Which one is going to give you good results??!! This is the question I try to ask myself when I think about grabbing something I know is not really going to benefit me, but sabotage all my efforts! If you can portion out a small amount of chips or ice cream, then that's not the problem and you can "go for it", but if you're like me with some of the red light foods, they need to be out of the house and one is cashews!! They just call my name, so I do not buy them, and another one is Reese's peanut butter cups!! I feel like I cannot buy a bag of those, but if I really want one, then I will buy ONE.........NOT a bag!! Again, it is about the choices we make every day. Remember, they all have consequences!!

    Hi Barbara, how fantastic to be able to say that you've maintained for 6 whole months!! I know it's not easy to stay on track day in day out...but you've proved it can be done!!

I maintained my goal weight for a while. Then I made the mistake of telling myself that I didn't have to exercise as much. It was ok at FIRST but then 1 day turned into 2 days then 3, 4, 5, a week a month and now I feel stuck in a rut. I have gained 10lbs back. UGH!! The feeling of knowing I sabotaged myself is overwhelming. All that work down the drain. I am not giving up, keeping positive, it could be worse. I could have gained all 25lbs back. I am taking one day at a time.

    Oh, Barbara, THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!!! I'm so, so proud of you! I guess I've maintained [give or take a few #'s] for the last 4 months. And I concur, IT'S NOT EASY! I've made some bad choices, and I've made very good choices, and I can tell you that the good choices are so satisfying! Peanuts are one of my red flag foods! I'm good w/ice cream but I MUST measure that 65 gram serving--and let me tell you that's not a whole lot for this ice-creamaholic! But actually, it's much more satisfying afterwards than a huge bowl w/caramel and hot fudge and nuts and whipped cream! Barbara, I'm so proud of you! You're my inspiration and I feel so very privileged that we can journey together! Much love, my precious 'maintenance' friend!!!!

    Congratulations, thanks for writing this blog, i needed to hear this. been struggling some and I needed to hear those words to make me realize i do have choices and what consequences some of those choices make in your new lifestyle. You have done awesome job and you are inspiring. thanks again for sharing!
