I know, I know, we are supposed to use the Help button and the Help Thread, but there in lies the problem for me....
Dear Spark Guy & SP IT Folks:
I am a blind user of SP. I never had problems before and since the most recent updates to the site I am not able to use SP. Oh yeah, I can read posts and threads and etc., but it takes forever! OK, forever is an exaggeration, but just now I tried to read posts in a thread on one of my favorite teams and it took me 45 minutes to read about 8 posts! I'm asking for help! Since the changes recently SP runs extremely slow for me and other blind users I have contacted. SP has been running sloer for everyone as I have heard, but for us blind users it has been ridiculous. Blind people are busy too and don't have time to just sit and wait for pages to load. The other problem I have encountered and have heard about from other blind users is the word "clickable" being repeated over and over as we try to read threads, blogs and other items of interest to us on SP. The IT guy that I spoke with at my screenreader provider said it was something SP did recently. I think it has to do with all these "pop up" things that now interfere with everyone's reading of threads. If you read over a certain word it has a pop up ad attached or something.... Very annoying to hear the word "clickable" every time I try to read something my Spark friends have said. Is there any way to turn the pop ups off? Is there any way to turn all the links to Facebook and Twitter off? They get in our way too! If I want to visit FB I will. When I visit SP this is where I want to be! I know SP is free. I know you all need ads and such. I appreciate it being free, but I used to love visiting the site and now I just want to cry every time I try! For some reason I am able to blog and send and receive Spark Messages, but otherwise it is a complete frustration for me! I have been in contact with other blind users who are feeling as frustrated as I and ready to quit SP. I don't want to quit, but I can't waste all my time waiting for pages to load and listening to info that does not pertain to what I am seeking (i.e. "clickable")! Please help! I know I and many other blind users will appreciate any hints you all can provide us as to make our Spark Journey fun, useful and enjoyable once again! Thanks! Melissa
