We've all been there. We've all hit plateaus and while the scale stays the same, our frustration mounts. It can be pretty tough sometimes when you feel as if you've tried everything, but it's so important NOT to give up.
Maybe I didn't really "shatter" this plateau but I did finally start moving downward again. And yes, only being a pound down is a victory that I will gladly claim. I was stuck right at 200 lbs. So to be out of the 200's is a victory for me.
I'm not one who puts a huge emphasis on the number on the scale. However, 3 1/2 weeks of sitting at 200 lbs. was beginning to bother me. When a plateau strikes, I try different things. For 3 or 4 days, I'll eat something different for breakfast. Next time I might push myself to walk further and add one more day of walking. Next time, I try to concentrate on my rest and make sure I'm getting plenty of it. I always track my food, exercise and water. I can look and see if I notice anything glaring. It helps to have the data to refer to.
I hope some of these suggestions help you if and when you hit the dreaded plateau. Whatever you do, don't give up. At some point your body will respond and sometimes the only answer is time.
