Reflection on Week 1 - August

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

Last week was a so-so week. I have (once again) over-committed myself and I have become stressed over some things I volunteered to do. So in order to get some of those things done, I had to sacrifice some of my exercise time. I also didn't make as many good food choices as I would have liked for myself to make.

First week (8/1 to 8/7)

1. Nourish myself

Goal 1 - Look for an opportunity to swap a not-so-good choice with a better choice once a day.
I did so-so with this goal. I didn't always make the best choices with my food, but at least I stayed mindful and I thought about my choices when I ate that dessert or chips. So that is a start .

Goal 2 - Eat at least 6 servings of freggies every day.
I did not meet this goal. This is one I need to keep.

Goal 3 - Observe the portions I am choosing.
emoticon I not only observed my portions, I limited them.

2. Move my body

Goal 1 - Exercise 10 minutes every day.
emoticon I exercised 6 out of 7 days, and got in a total of 339 minutes, so I am satisfied that I met this goal.

Goal 2 - Plan a strength routine for upper body, lower body, and core. Practice those exercises.
I did not accomplish this goal, so I will be working on it again this week.

3. Expand my mind and heart

Goal 1 - Meditate 10 minutes a day
I did not mediate with any regularity. I am floundering around trying to figure out how I can make this a regular part of my day, so I will keep working on this.

Goal 2 - Organize the books I want to read. Make a plan.
I didn't get this one done either.

4. Fire up my creativity

Goal 1 - Clean and organize my craft room.
I started cleaning and organizing, but I'm not finished yet. This is a work in process at this point.

Goal 2 - Organize my WIPs. Make a plan.
I didn't even start on my WIPs.

Goal 3 - Stitch 15 minutes a day.
emoticon I stitched at least 15 minutes every day.

As I analyzed this, I realized my week didn't go as poorly as I thought. I made some headway on most goals, which I am counting as a success. emoticon

So now for my goals for this week, 8/8 through 8/14. A lot of my goals will be repeats from last week, especially the ones I didn't make. I will try, try again! emoticon

1. Nourish myself
Goal 1 - Eat at least 6 servings of freggies every day.
Goal 2 - Control the portions I am choosing.
Goal 3 - Journal my food.

2. Move my body
Goal 1 - Exercise 10 minutes every day.
Goal 2 - Plan a strength routine for upper body, lower body, and core. Practice those exercises.

3. Expand my mind and heart
Goal 1 - Meditate 10 minutes a day
Goal 2 - Organize the books I want to read. Make a plan.

4. Fire up my creativity
Goal 1 - Finish cleaning and organizing my craft room.
Goal 2 - Organize my WIPs. Make a plan.
Goal 3 - Stitch 15 minutes a day.

I was feeling pretty bummed when I started writing this blog. Seeing that I didn't totally fail, and having my plan for this week has made me feel much better!

Don't peak, but I'm going to "borrow" some of your goals. It does occur to me, though, that we need to be as mindful of our tendency to overdo on our exercise or even diets. Can't speak for you, of course, but I sure have done it and it boomerangs on me every durn time.

You're doing great! You have really workable goals, and a healthy attitude about them. As you pointed out, you didn't do as poorly on them as you had thought-isn't it great what a little perspective can do for you?

Lisa, you put a lot of thought into these goals--and it shows. They are all goals that will make the most of YOU. In fact, I admire them so much that I'm going to embrace some of these goals as my own. I love how you always try to expand your horizons!

You are an amazing woman. I'm so glad that I know you, Lisa, and that we're friends.

Wow! You've got a lot of goals to keep track of and you're making good progress. Keep it up. My freggie goal is only half the size of yours and I'm struggling. Great job on the exercise!
