Today marks 23 weeks since RNY surgery and I am looking at how my life has changed! ........
First I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity! I see my surgeon tomorrow and will thank him for saving my life!
As I sit here today I am 2 pounds away from his goal for me to have a "Normal " BMI.
6 months ago I was on medicines fordiabetes, asthma, hypertensio
n,neuropathy, arthritis ,high cholesterol and pulmonary hypertension --Today I am off everything except for my cholesterol meds and should be off of that in the nrxt few months.( I was on a big dose of cholesterol meds and they just cut it in half since my lab draw), My total cholesterol was 105. I came off of insulin 2.5 weeks ago. They put me on an oral med but blood sugar was in the 70-80 range with a low of 48 so not taking it any more! So far blood sugars are Normal!! If I were not to lose another pound I would be happy because my biggest goal was to be off of all those meds!
I can wear a size 8 pant and some medium shirts! I can exercise for over an hour and feel good! I can walk up a flight of stairs without having to stop to breathe! I feel good about myself!
While I have had a few glitches along the way (Last month-- gall bladder out and an ulcer) I would gladly do this all over! Having surgery was the best thing I have ever done for ME!!
Thanks for sharing this journey! It has been quite a ride!!!--- Vicky
