Last week Tuesday, I had lunch with some friends and ordered a hamburger. For the day, I was well within the calories allowed and I felt good about feasting on a hamburger on a bun. Then on Saturday, I went to a birthday party and again, had a hamburger, and again, was still within my calorie range.
So how come my weight stayed the same, and on a couple of days, even went up?
(Speaking of "up" do you realize how often we use that word superficially? We get up, stand up, follow up, zip up, call up, and whatever else you can think to contribute.)
But I digress.
My conclusion is, there must be food that, although allowed, are a bane for us individually. No hamburgers this week, and I lost 1.5 lbs. That should have been last week's loss.
Does anyone else discover this? Do you have a food that sticks to you?
I'm not swearing off of hamburger, but I will be more careful of how often I indulge.
And by the way, I'm looking for a buddy that can cry on my shoulder occasionally, and allow me to do the same.

    I also find my weight fluctuates from the water retention of eating salty foods. The longer you work at eating healthy i'm sure you'll figure it out.

    emoticon Hey Smokey803, I hear you! I have yet to find a food that does not stick to me however, I have discovered that if I increase my water intake on those days, it helps. What did you have on the hamburger? It could be that one of the condiments had excess sodium which could work against you.
I will be your buddy and you can cry on my shoulder any time.

    Yes! For me it seems to be more about water retention than actual fat gain because the foods that zap me are all high in bad carbs or salt - both of which lead to water retention. My money is on those burgers being on white buns and/or well-salted!

Strangely I also have foods that ought to be huge no-nos that don't affect me negatively. The big one for me is PIZZA! Even if it's on white crust. Weird weird weird.
