My last day of holiday time...
Sunday, August 07, 2011
Today is my last day of holiday time, tomorrow it is back to work. Although, it will be a short work week as I have Friday and the following Monday off as part of my holiday time also, so two short work weeks in the making.
The long weekend that I have booked will be a weekend of canning, as much of my garden will ready to process. YAY. I will need to buy my cucumbers for pickling as we have had so much rain this year that they did not do well over the long haul. But that is okay as most things in my garden did very well. I am going to attempt to dig up my pepper plants and transplant them into pots that I can take into the house as the weather cools. They are doing well, just need more growing time. They haven't had the sun that they needed to produce peppers, but the plant is very healthy. Hoping to buy them some time by putting into pots to bring indoors. I hate to disturb the roots, but the alternative is they die from the cold anyway so not much of a choice.
My cold storage room is all finished and I'm thrilled to have it. We are building shelving in there now to hold all my canning and such.
Purchased the lower cabinets for the built in area in the LR/DR yesterday and we will assemble them and get them installed. We are doing a "pay as you go" with them as I hate owing money on anything. So will take us a bit longer than we had planned, but that is okay. The money that we had set aside for them needed to be used while Garry was traveling back and forth to Saskatchewan...a worthy cause also.
I have greatly enjoyed my time off work...yep...definitely could get used to being at home full time. Still working towards that goal.
A lovely visit with Kaeli last evening. It was great to catch up on all her news and find out news from family and friends that she was able to visit with on her holiday.
Garry sold his car yesterday...a nice bonus...we will be down to one shared vehicle for a bit.
Lots of tomatoes on my plants, we just need some nice sunny days in a row to help them ripen.
God, who blesses our family with so much abundance.
Have a wonderful Serenity Sunday.
