Food Network and The Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival

Saturday, August 06, 2011

Went to AC for part of my vacation. I arrived there for the last 2 days of the Festival. There were about ten green and white large tents set up on the beach between Bally's Casino and Resort Casino. I hung around hopefully catching a glimpse of a FoodTV Celeb Chef. No luck. They were either helicoptered in, or brought out to the site in special vehicles. The Main advertised attractions were Giada, Paula, The (gag!) Neeley's, and the headliner was Robert Irvine. These chefs were spread out over the few days of the festival. Each chef did a 60-minute demo, except Robert who did two demo's. Anyway, to get to see one chef was $100 per person. To see all the chefs' demo's was $310. To attend one hotel/casino event/tasting was $210. Just to see the FN kitchen staff/chefs demo's was $110. All of the Cooking Channel demo's were FREE (there were only two CC demo's emoticon ). The final celeb chef demo of the Festival on Sunday was a (ready?) Gospel Brunch with the (urp!) Neeley's. That required a $75 donation.

The NYC Food & Wine Festival is coming up. Ticket prices - DOUBLE the above.

Bottom line: the only way I can attend one of these FN events is either to get rich, get a personal invitation, or win a ticket.

All about the $$$.

I can totally relate and the Atlantic City Chefs aren't even the ones I'd really like to see.
