August Goals

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

"Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow." With that thought in mind, I am going to make some goals for August.

1. Nourish myself
First week (8/1 to 8/7)
Look for an opportunity to swap a not-so-good choice with a better choice once a day.
Eat at least 6 servings of freggies every day.
Observe the portions I am choosing.

2. Move my body
First week (8/1 to 8/7)
Exercise 10 minutes every day.
Plan a strength routine for upper body, lower body, and core. Practice those exercises.

3. Expand my mind and heart
First week (8/1 to 8/7)
Meditate 10 minutes a day
Organize the books I want to read. Make a plan

4. Fire up my creativity
First week (8/1/ to 8/7)
Clean and organize my craft room.
Organize my WIPs. Make a plan.
Stitch 15 minutes a day.

Your goals make so much sense. They are reasonable and achievable. I'm impressed that you have a specific goal in mind for Week 1 that looks forward to what you want to do to follow it up. That makes a lot of sense. Go for it! Looks good to me. emoticon

I like how you made your goals one week at a time, so you can evaluate how you are doing and perhaps revise them as the month goes on. Smart thinking! emoticon

Wonderful goals - like the breakdown you did. Reminds me I need to set some longer term goals as well, mine have been week to week for too long now!

great plan Lisa ! I think 10 minutes are all right because your calorie range will be calculated with this. my goal is 20 minutes/day . of course I do more , but there are days when I can't. I wanted a plan that would work even when I was tired , busy or sick

I decided to answer the question about whether a goal of 10 minutes of exercise will get me to my goal. An emphatic YES, because it gets me up and moving because I can easily do 10 minutes of exercise. Most times I do much more than 10 minutes, but if 10 minutes is all I can do, then I have still accomplished my goal and can feel successful. That keeps me moving forward.

Nice goals, but I'm going to be the devil's advocate here. Is moving only 10 minutes a day going to get you where you want to be?
