People will be arriving at 7:30 and my table has no top!

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

I got plexiglass from Home Depot. But I can't cut it. the tool they sold me is not doing the job.

I went online and lots of people use a circular saw with a plywood blade-put in backwards. Forget that!

It is not the end of the world!! I am just fretting and exaggerating!

The table has been without a top for a year! I set the lamp in the bbottom and the bulb sticks out the top!

And the guy running the meeting just stopped in--with his dog--a greyhound with a broken hind leg. Poor thing. Ya know what? I don't give a hoot anymore. I was really nervous. But he is a very nice guy and told me only a few people will be here. I got pre-made green tea and those pretzel nubbies -mustard and honey.

I almost canceled because the place looked more and more cluttered as I tried to put things away. I finnaly got the living room looking pretty good. Some things got thrown in boxes and hid in the bedroom. The floors in the kitchen and bathroom are done and the bathroom got cleaned. Still some clutter there.

Fake it till ya make it, right?

It is the beginning of a social committee to send cards to sick people and have a dinner or something once in awhile! I teased the guy saying, "You made me clean! Just awful!" We both laughed.

I am not gonna be the perfect hostess! I don't even want to be!

wish me luck. the plexiglass won't be cut. I will just put it on top of the table as is with the lamp on top of it. I can't find the finial right now so the lampshade might be crooked.

This is my life! If they don't like it they can lump it!

MOXIEGAL67, I think I'm going to disagree with you about the "perfect" hostess.

They DO exist!... but the definition may differ... LOL

My sister is the perfect hostess. She may vacuum her floor--or not. She may have a perfect table set--or not. It doesn't matter. She is the perfect hostess because it doesn't matter if it's the little boy from down the street or the Queen of England, she can make her guests feel at home and welcome, wanted and appreciated. THAT is my definition of the perfect hostess.

Chris, I think you've got it! LOL

Let us know how things went?

If You were waiting for the "uncluttered house" and "the table top cut" .... then we would never have company...

My Floor this eve, needed to be swept and mopped... My Stove needed to be wiped down... and there were dishes in the sink... *gasp*

but I cooked a nummy healthy meal last night, and we had company (a friend over)....

and sat and enjoyed the company!!

Hope You got to enjoy your company!!!

It's the generosity and kindness they will remember.

How kind of you to open your home to others.

Hope it was wonderful for everyone, and I'm sure it was!

Perfect hostesses are over-rated. They also rarely get to enjoy time with their guests. No one will pay attention to the clutter. I'm sure your guests would much rather spend time with you and talk about being involved in such a wonderful volunteer activity as tending to those with illnesses.

You'll be fine. You welcomed the dog with the broken leg, so you will be fine. Try to enjoy the evening.

Hey, Chris - Perfect people scare me. And, you know... they don't *actually* exist. So, nothing to worry about. :D

From the sound of things, I'd enjoy being there. And if *I* would go, you know you're cool.

    Best wishes, as always.
