So, I'm back from vacation. Nine glorious days in the woods surrounding Flaming Gorge Utah. It was beautiful. Campfires, long hikes through the trees, naps, tons of reading time, ATV riding, etc. Did I forget to mention the non-stop eating and drinking? As a person that can easily gain 5-10 pounds in a weekend I'm not super excited about seeing my starting point after 9 days of pigging out, but oh well. Hopefully most of the gain is water weight. So, anyway, the 17 day diet. Have you heard of it? I guess the Dr. that came up with it (Moreno) was on Dr. Oz. I didn't see it there, but I did hear about it from a sparkpeep. I looked it up and while it doesn't appear to be anything ground breaking, I do like to mix things up a bit to help keep my body guessing. Here is the gist:
#1 - 4 phases - 17 days each. First phase is the toughest (of course!)
#2 – In phase 1, you basically eat unlimited lean protein (chicken/turkey breast and fish), 2 servings of low sugar fruit (pink grapefruit, red grapes, and about a dozen other choices), unlimited cleansing veggies (about 2 dozen choices including bell peppers, lettuce, cabbage – no starchy corn, peas potatoes of course) and 2 servings of probiotics (yogurt, kefir (not sure what it is but I might try it)).
#3 – exercise is basically walking for 17 min/day. As a person that does an hour a day I think I’ll keep my usual regimen and call it good.
SOOOO… tomorrow is the beginning. If you know me, I don’t generally start these crazy things unless my hubby is going out of town – which he is. For 17 days by coincidence. I think it’s fate. Here’s to surviving the 17 day diet and picking my hubby up from the airport less of a woman that I dropped him off as.
