Me posing in front of a recent invention of my dh's! It's a Savonius windmill for pumping water out at the island camp.
My summer "vacation" is all but over. I was given an unexpected extra week of "leisure" before my afternoon ESL kids' classes resume. They were to start on August 1st but got moved to August 8th. Can't say that I'm complaining one bit. My boys will start homeschooling on the same day in the morning.
June was a busy month for me with an unexpected house guest right before a retreat for which I was the kitchen manager, food buyer and main speaker. I spent about a week in "recovery mode" after the retreat and the guest.
July has been a month of planning and preparations for homeschool. I have done my best to do little else in between and to use the time to simply rest physically and mentally before jumping back on the school bus! I've read some great books including my first two books specifically about the OCD problems I have. I feel ready for the leap into autumn events.
I was a little afraid that I might gain some weight as I was not riding my bike as much during this little month of "hibernation," but alas I'm about the same as ever. I was being careful about my eating and doing a good bit of therapeutic yard work.
Positives from my Hibernation:
Read the book - Urges: Hope and inspiration for people with trichotillomania and other mysterious compulsive disorders
Read the book - Pearls: Meditations on recovery from hair pulling and skin picking
Planned out the fall semester of homeschooling for my three boys
Took lots of refreshing afternoon naps
Tended to the health care of my old dog
Look for me to be around a little less on SP and even FB inspite of my return from hibernation. I am choosing to NOT be online at night to spend more time with my family and to go to bed at a decent hour. In my reading about trichotillomania and other OCD problems I have learned more than ever about the importance of a good night's rest.
p.s. Yes, this week my nails are an interesting exotic green! Love it!
