Scarborough Rotary Ribfest

Saturday, July 30, 2011

Well its that time of year again time for the Ribfest, mmmmm yes delis BBQ ribs, chicken and oh so much more!

This year like last Onion Blooms are going to be on sale, which is one of those delights that neither Norman or I can pass up (K we both can pass it up, but since its a once a year deal we tend not to do so without good reason).

Not sure what we're going to choose this year when it comes to the ribs, but if all else fails we'll end up with what we had last year since the same place is there again this year, but am hoping to try a new vender this year like we try to to each year.

I'm not worried about calories, carbs, fats, or any of it because it doesn't mean anything to me in general when it comes to a day like this. I'll go over in fat because of the ribs and the onion bloom likely go slightly higher in carbs then I have been. Calories on average will be over 1900 for the meal of ribs and onion so it will put me right in the middle of my range if I work it right for the day (have my regular brunch and snack).

The only major down side if that I've be way over sodium for the day the half a bloom alone is over 2,000 mg of sodium (or it is if they follow the recipe for them that I found online) and I'm only use to taking in 1,000 a day so I know for the next fews days afterwards I'm going to have a little extra water weight so will not be hitting the scale on sunday as has been my custom to do so.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, take care post as time does allow for it

Yes, that time of year when rib fests abound. Oh how I love them, and like you tend to treat them as just that... "a treat" :). I don't go to the one in Scarborough but have been to the one in Pickering this year and may go to the one in Oshawa in Sept.

Do you go to Taste of the Danforth? I haven't been for a few years as it is so crowded, at least that's what I hear & see on TV. There are good eats there too.

A splurge every once in awhile can be a good thing for our metabolism. Just push the water for the next few days and sharing is the best way to tackle these situations. Have fun! Our local rib fest usually has some good bands!

One day a year is a treat. You are going in knowing what you are going to do and that is a big achievement. I have a tendency to plan out a meal out and then change my mind while I am there. You do have the right idea of sharing everything. That keeps you from wanting to eat the whole thing by yourself. I tend to sit by my granddaughter so I can share my food with her. Have an awesome day.
