First Half-Marathon Excitement Just Keeps Buiding

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

If anyone would've told me eighteen months ago that I would be lookng forward to running, much less 2+ hours.....multiple times, I would have called the men with the funny white coats to take them away, BUT IT'S TRUE! And the closer that day comes, the more I am looking forward to my first half. To make it EVEN better, one of my favorite running buddies, who I don't get to run with except once a month or so has just signed up and is running her first with me!

Two weeks ago, we both ran our longest runs in our llives together and we are meeting up on Saturday early to do a 12 miler. The shorter runs we do alone since we live about 45 mins away from each other. We are getting together every other week for the long long runs though....meeting halfway for the runs.
That race is the Chicago Half-Marathon on 9/11 and then I have 5 weeks until my second ... where I am hoping to meet another Sparker (Nicholas - AbsoluteZero) and see my baby sis and her son, who I haven't seen in a few years now. This is going to be an awesome fall!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

I'm so excited for you!!! I run my first half in December here in Arizona, and Nicholas is coming out here to run it with me, so that will make it even MORE special! I hope you get to hook up with him at your second race, he is very inspiring, isn't he? Anyway, my race is still four months away so I am enjoying getting to hear about your excitement! :)

Be careful in this heat. I know you are farther north but didn't look like much cooler than we are. Hopefully it cools off by RnR St Louis in October

Oh Boy!!! How exciting for you girl! I can see that you are doing smart training and preparation for the half. And it's even more special doing it with a friend. Aren't our bodies miraculously and wonderfully made? and to think that you never would have thought to run a half marathon 18 months ago!! That is exactly how I felt when I did my first half last fall (and my second one a few weeks later too!) A friend and I signed up to do the Denver Rock and Roll Half this November, so I am starting the training hard too!

Looking forward to hearing all about your experience!!

Be blessed!
