Off. Isn't that a funny looking word? An "O" followed by two "FF's" and rhymes with scoff, goff, doff, cough, and other words frequently used in discouraging context.
Well, that's what I had yesterday. A very "off" day. But I am here to tell you that every once in a while if you have an "off" day, it can be a very good thing! Let's talk about why.
I have been eating very, very healthy for the past few weeks, limiting sugar, inhaling fruits and mostly veggies, eating lean meats and fish, increasing the protein, watching carbs, eating towards the low end of my caloric range most days, etc. and have had great result in doing so.
Yesterday, however, it all started out at Sunday school when someone brought muffins. BIG muffins. Gigantic, enormous, heavenly-sized cinnamon muffins. Mmmmmmmm! That led to the following list of items becoming yesterday's body fuel:
- 1 super-sized cinnamon muffin
- 2 cups of coffee each with 3 or so TBSP of Hershey's chocolate caramel coffee creamer
- 1/4 cup creamed corn
- 1/2 cup fruit cocktail
- Approx. 2 cups of bow tie pasta with spaghetti/alfredo sauce (I mixed the two, yum!)
- 3 slices of some super heavenly buttery sugary chocolaty dessert stuff that someone at church made (she promised me it was high in calories and fat)
- 2 apple slices
- 4 blueberries (lol)
- 1/2 smoked chicken leg
- sausage & egg cookie thing
- 1/2 cup hummus with carrots
- 200 calories of "Lemon Heads"
How much processed junk and sugar did I have yesterday? Eewk! But, when I awoke this morning, the scale was actually DOWN a little. *happy dance*
Don't get me wrong, I don't think that I can eat this way every day and still be shrinking, but every once in a while I think my body likes it when I stop being meticulous about only putting "healthy" in my mouth and indulge a little. And yes, I know that the scale normally fluctuates a little every day, but this was the lowest number I've seen in months, so we are fluctuating in the right direction!
Today I am back to eating healthy again and am going to try ZUMBA once more and hope that my knees are better after almost a week of rest. I NEED TO EXERCISE! I feel so sludgy and energy-less when I don't exercise! Silly knees. They are just going to have to man-up and push through.
Happy Monday everyone! It's the beginning of another week on your way to HEALTH!
