Day ONE ** Anyone wanna get going again?

Thursday, July 21, 2011

So who knows how much time as passed but I do know the weight has gone down and then up, down and then up... and overall it is up. I wish I could say that overall I am down but that would be a lie. I canNOT believe that my weight is just about as high as it's ever been and I'm not getting any younger (is anyone with me?). You know... THEY say that as we age, we gain weight, our muscle mass reduces and our hormones change. Oh joy! To a person that has struggled with my weight my entire life...just what I want to hear is that it is only going to get harder and worse as I age. Ok, so I am aging and it is getting I guess THEY are right.

So I'm about as disgusted with myself as I can be and decided today should be DAY ONE (as I will NEVER give up). If there is anyone else out there that is ready to jump on DAY ONE again... let's do this together. May we all be much happier about our health and fitness and body shapes come the Holidays. Just 5 lbs a month would be 20 lbs gone by Thanksgiving. Oh wow... 20 lbs off this body would feel SOOOO GOOD!

I'll be posting my progress so I hope you stay tuned and share your journey also.

Hey, Heather, You KNOW I'm with you!
I just had spine surgery a couple of weeks ago. My discs kinda all just went smoosh. Anyway, for 7 weeks all I could do was LAY on my back or left side, getting up only to wheelchair or limp, hunchbacked, to the bathroom. Every muscle in my body has turned to jello. Oddly, I lost weight during the ordeal (muscle wasting), but I look like roadkill. I start PT in a week. When I am rehabilitated, I want to get back into shape.... build a muscle or two. So let's do it!

How have you been doing the past few days, Heather? You can do this ... take it one day at a time, one healthy choice at a time!

20 by Thanksgiving would mean goal for me, but I haven't had a five pound loss in one month in as long as I can remember. I can however record a 5 pound gain after a long weekend. Best wishes in your journey, one small step at time, because after all, we've got nothing but time!

I'm with you - on the 'up' side unfortunately... you should read my blog from Wed (my first ever most popular blog post)... So I'm jumping back in - but not setting time limits on it. Taking it one day at a time. Today is a down day (been home sick for past 2 days)... so resting up and hoping to be back to normal soon.

I'm with you and BUCKEYE: Every day is Day 1 because every day requires focus to maintain let alone LOSE weight! Every day. One reassuring behavior I've seen over and over on SP is that not every day is a victory day. But the NEXT day can include the right choices and restoration to the path of good nutrition and fitness. So . . we're ALL joining you on DAY ONE! Let's have a good time while we're at it!!

I'm with you, Heather! I started back on this journey on Monday, and if you read my blog from Monday you will see we are TOTALLY on the same page. We can do this, and like Buckeyegals54 said, it's just one day at a time. Yeserday I didn't do so well, but today I'm starting again with a clean slate. Hey, this will make 3 good days out of four, so that's better than all four being high cal days. So I try to think of it like that, and it makes me realize I'm successful just because I keep trying. And so are you. That never give up attitude is what will bring us success. I read a lot of blogs of other people who finally "got it" and sometimes they are grandmothers. It might have taken them a long time, but they DID succeed and CONTINUE to succeed. Some of those grandmothers are runners now, or have their own published cookbooks... if someone of very advanced years can accomplish what we are intending to accomplish, than we certainly can, too, if we keep trying.

Everything we learned throughout all of our many attempts to get healthy and shape up is NOT lost just because we gained the weight back. We were just missing a certain peice of the puzzle that put it all together. We are still in search of the missing piece(s), and when we find it... BAM!! It will all come together and we will get the healthy lifestyle we've been seeking.

We're in it together, girlfriend.

Hang In THERE Heather!! I feel the same way and know that this time I will take it one day at a time. So far (since starting again on Monday), I have had 3 good days; it is too stressful to think long term. Just try and plan out your meals for the week; not planning leads to being too hungry and grabing anything you can find. So making a plan for me has paid off so far this week. I too would love to have 20 off by long range is 70 by July 2012. Good Luck!! I'll follow you for support on your blog!! You can do it!!!
