July 18: Day 32 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Today's Fitness
I did 34 minutes of fitness yesterday (July 18)

Today's Highlights

The fitness highlight yesterday was doing even more lunges. By going slow, I've gotten back to the highest level of lunges I've done. Now I'll just work on pushing off even more explosively when doing the lunge. I was out running errands yesterday and yes was literally running from errand to errand. I really noticed that my legs are getting much stronger from the consistent lunges this year fun!

Today's post is a short one but fun. This is from a personal trainer who heard about SparkPeople from one of his clients. Thanks again for spreading the spark!

Nice work! Keep up all your awesome efforts. It is so cool to have you actively participating in this online community you created--and to know that there is still so much value for you here.

Highlight of my fitness was pushing past my last reps of physical therapy exercises despite my muscles aching!

I just want to tell you what a difference your site has made in my life. SparkPeople has done something no other weight loss program/site has ever done. It has given me the tools to set and meet my goals. I just completed my first sprint triathlon on Sunday and there is no way I would have gotten here without the tools, motivation, and support I received from SparkPeople. Thanks to you and SparkPeople's staff for the amazing work you do!

Monday through Friday my daughter and I do water aerobics 60 minutes.Along with this exercise we also have a 60 minute yoga class on Fridays , a zumba gold class on Mondays, and a low impact aerobic out of the water on Wednesdays. We have been doing this for 2 months and I have only lost 8 pounds but I had to up my calories since I workout so much. We will now see how much weight I can lose.

It is amazing to read this everyday. It keeps me motivated and inspired. I just started on Monday and I am navigating the site. Adding my favorite foods, tracking my food, water. Headed for Vacation with family so I plan on some fun active activities with the kids to keep me moving. I have had some minor injuries like planter fascitis but found shoes so I can walk. Teva sandals. Yesterday, I had a moment of "boredom" and decided to do some errands after work to break that cycle. Coming home from work each day, was my downfall. Alcohol. So I have been alcohol free for 5 days, feeling alot better about myself and doing the low carb thing. I am actually not that hungry since I am eating small amounts throughout the day. I am so proud of me. emoticon

The Kat and I do 20 minutes of floor exercises every morning except on weekends - it starts my day off right - and when I don't do them, I feel I have cheated myself. Thanks for the encouragement, I need to get back to cardio too ! emoticon

You've inspired me. I am now up to 60 minutes water aerobics every weekday. On Saturdays I cut the grass and walk 30 minutes. I do yoga once a week for 60 min and low impact aerobics once a week for 60 min. I have noticed a big difference in how I feel. My heartrate is 100% better. I am 68 yrs old and don't want to feel old. I feel great. Also I have lost 9 lbs since June 7th. Thank you for your challenges.

Had an injury yesterday but I got my 25+ min. walk in first emoticon . I have to say that I love the new tool bar at the bottom of the screen. Takes me to the things I do the most and I don't have to go searching for it. Too cool! I have to rest today due to pulling a tendon in my leg but that won't stop me from doing all the other things I can. Thanks again for this site! Your the BEST~

It's easy to do 10 minutes of exercise per day: get off the bus a few stops early, park as far away from the door as possible at the supermarket, use the stairs instaead of the elevator, etc. These are all things I do on a daily basis.

Anyone can do 10 minutes of fitness, even if it is just sitting in a chair and doing vigorous arm circles our having your arms straight out in front of you and doing criss crosses; it gets the heart rate up!!

Been with SparkPeople a few years, but been AWOL. My absence has mostly been due to health reasons. I am getting more motivated everyday. So happy to see all the wonderful changes I'm seeing since I came back. Love it!!! It's just so much easier to navigate and find things. Thanks SparkGuy! You are ONE WONDERFUL person to do all that you are doing with SparkPeople.

I try to get at least 120 minutes everyday, even if it's just 120 minutes of walking. I find it's the only way to stay consistent.

I really wish I could do lunges. I have such bad knees from being a long distance runner for 28 years, they are just totally worn out! Not to mention arthritic. But I DID manage a 20 minute mile today. (Walking, of course!) emoticon

I agree that lunges are great for building both power and strength, but I have bad knees -- I've had three knee operations -- and lunges are painful for me.

Is there any other exercise that might be similarly effective that I might substitute?

Thanks! Am new to the site, and am just getting started, but so far it's been great!

Started this program a couple of days ago. Needing help with the exercise? Did my daily devotion and also started drinking 8-8oz glasses of water each day. I'm not giving up.
