July 12: Day 26 of the 10+ Minute Fitness Challenge

Today's Fitness
I did just 15 minutes of fitness yesterday (July 12).

Today's Highlights
There honestly weren't many highlights yesterday. I had a bad night sleep after having an allergic reaction to something that then makes me sleep bad sometimes. But since it was a tough day I'd say the highlight was keeping the streak alive with just something simple!

I'm posting this so late today because I took my wife to see American Idols Live I'll try to blog about this tomorrow!

Title: One Year On

Message: It has been a year since I came back to Sparkpeople and I would
like to share my achievements with everyone.

On July 12 last year I rejoined Sparkpeople and one year on I would like to
share my achievements.

I have lost 42 lbs and a lot of inches.
I have walked 600 miles and keep track of the miles on My Fitness (I didn''t
walk before).
I keep track of what I eat every day on My Nutrition and this keeps me very
food aware.
I have lost the pain in my knees.
I look much better, feel much fitter, healthier and rejuvenated.
I have collected over 11,000 Sparkpoints and am on Level 11.

Thank you Sparkpeople for being there and for being FREE.

How was your day? Did you get at least 10 minutes of fitness? What's your highlight?

SparkCheers!

Love that your sharing now! I believe it is a great motivator for everyone to see you always get in exercising even with your very busy schedule.
Thanks for posting the Sparkverserie story. It is always motivating to read other inspirational stories. I can hardly wait until my 1 year-versery to see how far I have come also.

Sorry you had a bad night but posting about it and how you 'did it anyway' is great inspiration for me! In the past, I've always tended to think along the lines of 'well, if I can't do 2 hours, then why bother?' or something silly like that. The whole concept of 10-minutes of exercise 'no matter what' had never occurred to me before SparkPeople came into my life - now I find that more often than not, just getting up for a 10-minute walk makes me get 'into the mood' to go a little longer, sometimes just extended 5 minutes at a time, haha!

Keep up the good work - you are an amazing inspiration for millions!!

First thing I put on in the morning and last thing I take off at night is my pedometer. Logged in 14,041 steps yesterday by taking a step class and then working 5 hours (in food service so I'm on my feet). Woot Woot!

I had a good day, thank you for asking! And this morning, for the first time in more years than I can remember, the scale was in the 150s (just barely, but hey ... emoticon ). Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making such a difference in my life ... and in countless others as well! emoticon

Why would you say "just 15 minutes"?? You did 15 minutes which is 5 more than your 10+ minute goal! Yay!! Celebrate the success, right?

I am so happy you're blogging more regularly! :-)

I too am on a 1,000 day exercise streak challenge. I started it when you posted about it the first time. I did great - exercised for 60 days in a row and then I slipped. No matter. I started again last week. Just finished my Walk Away the Pounds dvd, 2 mile walk. So, today marks day #6. I feel GRRRRRREAT!

Hope your allergies get better soon. :-)

I read PACE by Al Sears, MD and doing 12 min daily is better than hours of exercise. Our bodies are built for short bursts like in fight or flight.

Congratulations on your streak! I love your commitment. I have been doing at least 10 min. too mostly walking at this point but I'm sticking with it. I will keep increasing my times and be able to do more soon. I want to thank you for having sparkpeople and for keeping it free so that people like me who are economically challenged can still get fit and healthy. Thank you again Spark Guy! emoticon

I completed 4 weeks of 10 minutes a day to get a trophy. I am actually starting day 55 of it without missing a day of doing 10 minutes of exercise. It usually ends up being more, the hard part for me, is getting started.

I wanted to thank you for creating this free site. I heard about it from some women on house cleaning groups at YAHOO. This challenge reminded me of my Dad telling me to walk about 1/4 of a mile and back during the winter. He died at a young age, age 49.

Great job on working in the 10 minutes in spite of a bad night and family obligations.

I played frisbee and catch with my niece yesterday - that was the only way I was keeping my streak alive!
Loved it, got my heart rate up too and enjoyed the sunshine

I love this. 'Today's fitness' and 'Today's Highlight' I love the way you did your fifteen minutes, in spite of that awful night you had in order to keep the streak alive. I can certainly take that leaf from your book.
Today's fitness:
I'm off to the gym to do 10minutes on the Treadmill, 10min on the bike and 5 minutes on the elliptical, and if I'm up to it( Which of course I will be, 10 min swimming.
Today's Highlight.
Waking up to a clean kitchen after spending most of yesterday removing everything that shouldn't be there.
Thank you Chris, for all that you are doing. I really appreciate it. emoticon
