I lose when I eat bacon and eggs

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I mentioned to someone recently that I was trying to lose weight and we discussed my food choices. I said I had bacon and eggs for breakfast.

"You're eating bacon and you want to lose weight?"

Why yes, I believe I am. I did Atkins several years ago and was very successful, but I let others convince me it wasn't a healthy way to lose weight. But what I am finding out is that my body requires lots of protein in order to burn off the fat. It's just the way I'm wired.

I attended a lecture years ago. The speaker told a personal story about his wife. When they married, he convinced her to join him in becoming a vegetarian. Strange thing happened though, she began to get sick and the doctors couldn't find a reason for it. Finally they were able to get in to see a doctor who explained his theory about body types. He believed there were 10 basic body types which had different dietary requirements. He recommeded his wife begin eating meat again. When she did, she began to recover.

So, yes, I eat bacon and eggs when I am trying to lose weight. I like eating bacon and eggs because they taste good, but I also enjoy the added benefit of becoming more fit and trim.

After a few days of eating the foods I know my body likes, the scale is gently beginning to move in the down direction.

I agree with you 100% no 2 bodies are the same and no 2 people lose weight the same way. I say enjoy the things you like (in moderation) because if you deprive yourself you will eventually give in to temptation and more than likely over do it. Thumbs up for you knowing what is right for you!!!

That's why there are a GAZILLON books on diet and fitness. What works for one person doesn't work for another.

Congratulations on finding what works for YOU!

Good for you, for listening to your own body! I lost 30 lbs on South Beach a year ago, and it really did work (I also still felt good, even without all the carbs). My problem with it for a lifetme change is that I really did miss the carbs. I've only started eating more carbs again when I joined Sparkpeople. Now I'm finding I can lose that way too. The main difference seems to be the consistent exercise and portion control. But whatever works for you to get the scales going in the right direction makes sense to me!! Congratulations!!

I'm glad you wrote this blog. A lot of people spend tons of money on dieting books, pills, etc. Somehow, it seems fool-proof if someone else is telling you what to do. But it's not always good advice! It takes more effort to learn what your body needs (that requires work). If my weight loss stalls, I switch things up and learn the reason behind it. I have also lost weight in the past by eating bacon and eggs every day lol. Keep up the good work!

YUM! I eat bacon and eggs too. Eggs almost everyday and bacon occasionally, especially on salads! emoticon emoticon emoticon
